We are a family dedicated to the study and construction of the Spanish guitar since the 50's. The first guitar maker of the family, Manuel Bellido, makes instruments since 1957. Jesus makes guitars from the age of seventeen, and Mauricio did his first workshop work with eighteen years. Currently we share a workshop in Granada, Spain.
We build each guitar in a traditional way and completely by hand, controlling the process from beginning to end, from the cutting and sawing of the tree in many occasions, until the varnishing and final assembly, through the drying, the preparation of the parts and the assembly.
Although we come from the same school and therefore our instruments have much in common, each of us three makes his own guitars from beginning to end, following his criteria and using his particular design in their models, without the intervention of others. Thus, with the exception of varnishing, which is performed in all cases by Mauricio, Manuel's guitars are entirely built by him, Jesus’s by Jesus and similarly to Mauricio’s.
Usually we have workshop talks, in which we also participate other guitar makers such as Miguel Angel Bellido or luthier Francisco Hervas, and sometimes guitar players like Jorge Gomez or Javier Moreno Rebollo. In these talks we test guitars and prototypes, we discuss the benefits of different systems widely, providing opinions, ideas and new solutions, so that we learn from each other and share improvements to all our instruments.
