Mauricio Bellido, born in Granada in 1980, is the youngest of five children of the renowned luthier Manuel Bellido. He is also the third in the family to follow the guitar-making tradition, after his brothers Jesús and Miguel Ángel.
From an early age, Mauricio was immersed in the artisanal and musical atmosphere of the family workshop. His connection to the guitar began as a player: he started studying with Francisco Javier Moreno Rebollo, and at the age of thirteen, he was introduced to flamenco guitar under the guidance of guitarist José María Ortiz. He later expanded his training with Jorge Gómez, as well as classical guitar and technique with Vicente Coves.
At the age of eighteen, Mauricio took his first steps as a luthier in his father’s workshop. While pursuing university studies and learning several languages, he also studied the art of traditional French polish. In 2004, he completed his training in finishing and varnishing techniques at the workshop of Eduardo Durán Ferrer, further solidifying his technical expertise.
In 2007, he built his first guitar alongside his father. Since then, he has continued to develop his own path within the family trade, offering a contemporary perspective while remaining deeply rooted in tradition.
As a luthier, his main focus is to create a guitar with a distinctly Granadan character: highly comfortable to play, with a sweet, balanced tone particularly suited for the Spanish classical repertoire. His designs are sober yet elegant, always aiming to highlight the natural beauty of the wood and the instrument itself. For Mauricio, each guitar is the result of a constant search for harmony between form, sound, and artisanal sensibility.
